FBI Drops California Case Against Apple After Accessing Shooter’s iPhone

The U.S. said it has successfully gained access to the data on the iPhone used by a man in a San Bernardino, California, terrorism attack and no longer needs Apple Inc.’s assistance.

The Justice Department said a week ago that it was approached by an unidentified third party about a possible method to get into the shooter’s phone.

In a two-paragraph court filing Monday, the government said it “has now successfully accessed the data stored” on the iPhone 5c used by Syed Rizwan Farook, who with his wife carried out the December attack in San Bernardino.

It’s however unclear if it’s the same Israeli mobile software developer Cellebrite that helped unlocked the iphone.
